Lumbrifiltration

During the development of more ecological and sustainable water plant treatment options we have included lumbrifiltration technology.

Lumbrifiltration explained in 3 steps:

Pre-treatment system

Main systems used in the separation of solids, fat mitigation, neutralization, homogenization and other unit operations.

Lumbrifiltration

A filter consisting of diverse material including its main component of organic material with earthworms and microorganisms. Residual water flows through a filter where organic material es absorbed and digested by earthworms and microorganisms, eliminating contamination.

Post-treatment System

The effluent from the lumbrifilter is submitted to disinfection and decantation processes for the elimination of remaining pathological bacteria. This system is effective in reducing certain parameters such as: BOD, COD, suspended solids as well as oils, fats, nitrogen and phosphorus.

Benefits

Elimination of Sludge

Residual water is completely treated and therefor a fertilizer called humus is created instead of sludge which can be used or sold.

Odor Elimination

Since the treatment is aerobic (oxygen presence), the percolating filter does not produce nauseous odors. The time of the water treatment process is fast lasting between 30 and 40 minutes and therefore there is no water decomposition.

System does not saturate

The constant action of earthworms and microorganisms maintains the lumbrifilter that is always aerated and permeable.

We guarantee compliance with DS 90 in relation with discharge parameters for residual liquids and NCh 1333 for irrigation.
